Day 37 (February 6, 2010): Chinese New Year Festival

Today we got invited by our friend Audrey and her mom Laurie to attend the Chinese New Year festivities that were being held at West Edmonton Mall. It was only $2 to get in. The majority of the events took place in the skating arena. There was a trade fair and a stage. On the stage they had lots of different performances and demonstrations. We saw some maritial arts demos as well as some dancing and musical performances. We also checked out the trade fair.

We took a couple of pics but it was kind of hard. It was quite busy and crowded there so people kept steping in front of the camera. You will notice this in the picture of the gentleman doing the caligraphy.

These girls are playing a Chinese instrument. I am not sure what it is called. The music was beautiful. What struck me was their posture and demeanor while they played it. They were very graceful.
